Have you ever considered being more involved in the running of your child’s school? Our Trust schools need people like you who can bring the perspective of the parent body and the community to decision making and play a central role in the management of your school.
The TSAT governance model is simple and unique. Directors run the Trust. Underneath them is the Regional Governing Body (RGB) and below that, the Academy Advisory Board (AAB).
The AAB is made up of 5-9 members – parents, people from the community and academy staff. Their job is to review the school’s performance and challenge/support the Principal in how the school runs. AAB members do not have to make any formal decisions but instead, give the parents’ view on the school: a vital part of governance. This means that you do not need to worry that you might not have specialist knowledge – energy, enthusiasm and commitment are all that are needed to get you started.
The RGB is a more formal group with eight members who are elected for four years. They have specialist skills in order to support the business side of the Trust including HR, buildings, health and safety, finance and, of course, education. The RGB holds academy leaders to account for performance and carries out the Trust’s policies and priorities.
Joining either group will offer you an exciting and rewarding chance to be more involved in the life of the school. For more information, please look at the governance section of the TSAT website https://www.tsatrust.org.uk/about/governance/ .
For a discussion about the role, please print this form and return it to the school office. Thank you for your time and support for the Trust.
