At The Portsmouth Academy we are keen to allow students to learn in ways and at times that support their education.  These are some of the packages available to our students.

If your child is having issues logging into our systems, please can you fill in this form.  If you wish to get a parental login for Show My Homework, please see the section below.

Students have access to a service called GCSEPod, which provides podcasts based on their GCSEs.  Their login will be their school login and password.  There is a link to this from the Pupils->Microsoft Portal at the top of this website, or they can go to www.gcsepod.com/login or download the iOS / Android app.  If they have any problems logging in, please contact the school.

Hegarty Maths is a series of maths videos aimed at all year groups. Go to www.hegartymaths.com

To login click on Student log in, search for The Portsmouth Academy, then enter your name and date of birth (this only has to be done the first time you login)

Known issues:

There are currently 3 known issues that have arisen as we sped up the launch of Microsoft Teams for students due the Coronavirus epidemic:

  1. Some users do not have Microsoft Teams icon.  This seems to be affecting students who joined the school from Sept 2019.  We are working on a fix to allow students to see the icon.  As a workaround, please use www.showmyhomework.co.uk to see any homework set.  Use the “Sign in with Office 365” button and your school email login and password if required.  This is the same password as for school computers. UPDATE 20/3/20 This should now have been fixed.  Students may need to log out of Office 365 and back in again to trigger update.
  2. Some students cannot remember their login details.  In this case if parent/carer contacts the school (preferably from a contact that we already have on record – e.g. via MyEd app / or email to info@theportsmouthacademy.org.uk), we can arrange to get the student password reset.
  3. Some students are not set up in classes within Teams.  We are working on an update for this.

All students have access to Microsoft Teams to allow them to access learning outside of lesson times.  Teams gives them a chance to work colabartatively with their teacher and other students in the class.

We recognise the value homework has and the positive effect it has upon learning. Homework should build on prior learning, consolidate what has been learnt in lessons and deepen students knowledge and understanding.

 The process of managing homework gives students good habits that they need to succeed in life- self-discipline, organisation, perseverance, resilience and the ability to think independently.

 We are always looking for ways to make homework more effective and we use Show My Homework to set homework.  Show My Homework enables students (and parents) to see exactly what homework is set.  Students (and parents) at The Portsmouth Academy can download a Show My Homework app for their mobile phones that can send reminders when homework is due. For more info about the apps see IOS App, Android App or other mobile devices.

 All students will receive homework set through Show My Homework only.

and use their @tsatstudent.org.uk school email account if requested.  (See image below).

We value the support that families give to their children in completing homework.  All parents and carers can access the website via any device that is internet enabled to see what homework has been set for their child and the deadlines for each piece.

We try to provide parental logins at each parents evening.  If you require a login for Show My Homework, or your child needs a reminder of their email address, please contact office@theportsmouthacademy.org.uk or ask your child to visit reception.

To see your child’s homework, you will need a Parent Code, you can either get this from your child’s Show My Homework (see animation below) or by filling in this form.

To login as a parent, go to www.showmyhomework.co.uk and select the parent option.  Search for The Portsmouth Academy and enter in your email address and Parent Code. (See image below).

Students are provided with logins for our computers and their Office 365 accounts when they start at The Portsmouth Academy.

The same password is used for both computers and email.  Show My Homework and GCSEPod use the same login details via the Sign In With Office 365 links.

If students forget their login details they will need to go to see the IT Support Team in room 11.
