We are proud of our diverse, vibrant community of students, staff and families who all come together to transform life chances.
We Are TPA strengthens our shared identity and reminds everyone of the important role we each play in creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
Mrs S Dedman, Head of School, is focused on strengthening everyone’s sense of belonging at school with this new campaign.
“Being The Portsmouth Academy is about truly feeling like a team; one where everyone is included, valued, and supported. It captures the idea of all of us working side-by-side, contributing our strengths and helping one another grow”, she said.
Mrs Dedman also highlighted the desire to build a ‘positive, caring environment’ and to show what it means to belong to something ‘bigger than ourselves’.
We Are TPA shows how not only do we belong here at school, but also the important role we play in our local community.

Championing our values is vital for strengthening the Fratton and Portsmouth region, as we show what it means to be part of The Portsmouth Academy.
Yesmine who’s in Year 9 said: “Being a part of The Portsmouth Academy’s community has helped me develop my confidence in expressing myself.
Joining clubs has helped to expose me to new friends across different year groups and show my passion for performing!”
Yesmine also wanted to recognise The Portsmouth Academy’s staff who she said have ‘supported me during tough times’, particularly Miss Kendell, Miss Donnelly and Mr Corsby.
Mr D Botting, Executive Principal and Regional Director for The Thinking Schools Academy Trust, is delighted to see this campaign take centre stage in building TPA’s culture of belonging.
“We Are TPA represents a significant milestone in the fantastic progress everyone is making here at The Portsmouth Academy to celebrate our cultural identity positively throughout the school”, he said.
“This an important part of how we are working to transform life chances for pupils here, and I want to especially pay tribute to Mrs Dedman who has put so much time and effort into helping launch it”, Mr Botting added.
On our social media platforms, we’ll be showcasing examples of We Are TPA in action, and how all of us are pulling together to support our wider community and families.
